Privacy Policy
OfferSync ("OfferSync", "we", "us") operates the OfferSync marketplace mobile application and related services (the "Service") for buyers and sellers in Cameroon. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Service you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account & identity: phone number, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), and full name.
- Profile: profile and cover photos, bio, social links, your city and neighbourhood (quartier), preferred language, and—if you offer services—your service description and service area.
- Verification: information you submit to verify your phone, email, identity, or business (for trust badges and fraud prevention).
- Listings & content: the items/services you post, their photos, descriptions, prices, and locations.
- Messages: conversations and messages you exchange with other users, including any location you choose to share for meet-ups.
- Transactions: offers, purchases/sales, subscriptions, and payment confirmations (e.g. via MTN Mobile Money or Orange Money).
- Reviews & reports: ratings, reviews, and any reports or blocks you submit.
Information collected automatically
- Device & push: device type and a push-notification token so we can deliver notifications.
- Usage data: app activity, interactions, approximate IP-based location, and diagnostic/analytics data used to operate and improve the Service.
- Location: the city/neighbourhood you set and the locations attached to your listings. We do not continuously track your precise GPS location in the background.
Information from third parties
- Social sign-in: if you sign in with Google, Facebook, or Apple, we receive your email address and basic profile from that provider.
- Payment providers: we receive confirmation of payments you make through mobile-money providers.
2. How we use your information
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you (including one-time codes sent by email, WhatsApp, or SMS).
- Publish your listings and enable buyers and sellers to discover and message each other.
- Facilitate offers, transactions, subscriptions, and payments.
- Provide trust & safety features: verification badges, fraud and scam prevention, content moderation, and enforcement of our Terms.
- Send you service notifications and respond to support requests.
- Analyse and improve the Service, and comply with legal obligations.
3. How we share your information
- With other users: your public profile (name, photo, ratings, listings, and the neighbourhood you set) is visible to other users. Messages are shared with the users you contact.
- With service providers (processors) who act on our behalf, including: Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications); our email delivery provider; SMS/WhatsApp providers (one-time codes); mobile-money payment providers (MTN MoMo, Orange Money); and cloud hosting and image storage providers.
- For legal & safety reasons: to comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, or address fraud, prohibited items, or harm. Some prohibited activity may be reported to the competent Cameroonian authorities.
4. Data retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account we delete or anonymise your personal data, except where we must retain certain records to comply with legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution obligations.
5. Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law, you may request to access, correct, or delete your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
6. Deleting your account and data
You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time, either from within the app (Profile → account settings) or by emailing contact@offerssync.com with the subject "Account deletion". We will action your request within a reasonable period, subject to the legal retention noted above.
7. Security
We protect your data using encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
8. Children
The Service is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
9. International data transfers
Some of our service providers may process data on servers located outside Cameroon. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure your data remains protected in line with this Policy.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice in the app.
